Today you are playing in Hungarian 4th division and with me you’re getting a trial with Manchester United … well, there is just a matter of insurance fee.
We have more than 4000 agents on our platform with more joining us every day. They are essential part of your career and to move forward in your career you have to get one or work with one. But not all the people have the best intentions, so you have to be very careful.
Fraudsters pretending to be licensed agents and/or football club employees are contacting our users, posting up market posts and sending spam emails/messages promising trials with various clubs. The scam works by promising trials to young players with various clubs and asks for an advance payment to cover “insurance and travel” costs/fee. The money is usually requested via services like Western Union etc.
Typical message states something similar to:
I’m John Doe, a soccer scout in Europe. I am currently recruiting players for European clubs listed in Spain, United Kingdom, Russia, Germany, France, Italy.
In John Doe Sport international UK, we give you an opportunity to fulfil all your football dreams. We are a registered football scout body registered in the United Kingdom. We recruit players for top football clubs in England and all parts of Europe, including Holland and Germany.
The Trial consists of several game practices and exercises designed to show us your range of ability, skills, speed, and athleticism. It is an informal afternoon, aimed at giving players the opportunity to display their talent, and to obtain an assessment of their potential from a Professional Coach. All participants are graded and assessed by professional coaches. Players who prove immediately, to have the exceptional skills and qualities necessary to succeed, will be put forward to sign of Professional contract.
I am now using this medium to ask you if you will be interested in a trial out in soccer clubs. If interested, kindly forward to me your previous playing experience and your CV (resume) to have a look at it and send it to some clubs in European soccer league.
NOTE ALL YOUR FLIGHT AND ACCOMODATION WILL BE TAKEN CARE OFF BY OUR SPONSOR EXCEPT THE MEDICAL INSURANCE FEE WHICH WILL COME ALONG WTH THE INVITATION LETTER, WILL BE BORED BY YOU.(ABOUT 500 GBP).
These fraudsters use different approaches. They could directly send you the above stated message, or they could just start a conversation (via Fieldoo messages or email) and slowly move through to the final offer, again involving different payment of insurance or other costs.
Typically a fraudster tries to move the conversation from Fieldoo (our message system) into using regular email, trying to isolate you and convince you to pay quasi insurance fee or other costs.
You should also be careful when an agent asks you for your CV and promo video, typical signal that he probably has other agenda, as everything (all your football data and media) he/she really requires is on your Fieldoo profile (your football CV).
DO NOT PAY OUT ANY MONEY!
If you are contacted by agent with the above stated or similar message, report the agent and possible scam immediately on [email protected] or use the Feedback button on the side of the page. State the agents name and surname so that we can immediately act and keep you and Fieldoo safe. If you have any doubts about any correspondence received purporting to come from a club or agent you should contact Fieldoo team for advice.
With Fieldoo you can get in touch with verified agents, who indeed are doing their job and working for your benefit (look for verification emblem on agent’s profile). Our mission is to provide relevant, transparent information and contacts for you and all our users, and we are working hard, suspending and deleting fraudsters and verifying agents and players to provide the best possible experience and trustworthy environment for you. Together with you and your reports of such fraudsters we can and we will achieve it.
Please note: Fieldoo is not responsible for your personal actions to connect with fraudsters on Fieldoo or any external website. We also say that the football clubs and agents whose names have been used have nothing to do with the scam.
